Labrador Specialty Show in Gifu Prefecture

We had a very enjoyable time at Oogaki City. There was a Labrador Specialty Show under the judge from UK, whose name is Ms Jacky Hodge (Niken Labradors).

I met her at the first time but my hus and I saw her several time at the Lab Show in UK. She was an energetic lady so that she seemed not to be tired through the show.

The weather was fine and the autumn must be the best season in Japan.

There were over 100 labradors come from around Japan. We took George (Halshimoor Washington) and Oliver-Kahn (JKC CH BANDOTARO Port in the Storm). It took 8 hours from here to go there. Too far...!

A bred dog and two our bred bitch are there as well with each owners. They seemed enjoyable atmosphere.

We guess that the judge looked after the dog/bitch with strong reach of neck and strong suitably angled rear... required as working / gun dog. She selected our bred bitch (Sire: FINCH Mallorn's Shenandigan Dam: JKCCH Mallorn's Finlandia ) as RWB after that she won in her class (16 participant).

Eye Check in 2007

We held 7th "Eye check for eye diseases including PRA, RD, HC..." at 8th April in our house by Animal Opthalmologist.We organaise it once a year. It was rare thing to be tested by specialty at that time.

Here in Japan, recently, the number of Animal Opthalmologist is increasing. More eye problems augmant, more need of specialty heighten. So, ordinary dog funciers get concerned about eye disorders gradually.

Of course, dog breeders as well. Some of labrador breeders do eye test for their dogs like Europe. I am so glad to see the cituation now.

So that, I heard that some labradors were affected PRA... Every year's eye check has brought about it. It is sad news, isn't it ? But good news as well.

We have tested Aimee, Findy, Jasmine by OptiGEN (USA) a few years ago. All of them are "A". It was so difficult to send brood to OptiGEN because there are not any system to do it. So, I had to send brood by myself through quarantine at Narita International Airport. Hard things.

If someone create a new system to send breed there easily, many of breeders will use it.

I am surprised to know Janice passed away ......! Is it true? Well, what happened to her ?

I deeply regret not to have contacted with her constantly in 2005.It's my fault.

She was one of the most important person for Labradors, you believe. I coud not understand her death immediately.

Finally we just feel cool here!

We have not joined to so many Dog shows here this year with some reasons. But we enjoy life with labradors. Thank you for our overseas friends to contact with us with kind words.

Now we are preparing for take part in the coming dog show in 13th Novemver. The judge is invited from Britain, Mrs Brown (Ramsayvill Labrador). So, we just start to maintain our dog's conditions. Of course, our conditions, too :-)

Well, I'll show you all details of the event later.

Our house is situated near by Tone River (second name : BANDO TARO) . Some of our gangs swim there often.

Yesterday, Rupert, Carolyne, Punch were playing in the water with a ball.

We just received OptiGen Test Report!!

OptiGen started to diagnose the prcd form of PRA by DNA test from 1st June 2005. They have also diagnosed DNA from brood sample collected before 1st April 2004.

Our Aimee (Pembroke BANDO TARO Aimee) & FIndy (Mallorn's Finlandia) & Jasmin (Poolstead Portraiture) was tested by DNA marker test several years ago by OptiGen. Eath result were Aimee-B, Findy-A and Jasmin-B.

This time the systme of the DNA test is renewaled. SO, we just received the results of prcd Mutation Test for PRA. All are Normal /Clear!!! So that, you know, they will never produce puppies affected with the prcd form of PRA if they can be bred to any dog.

Aimee had 1 litter, Findy as well. Jasmin had 2 litters. All puppies are keeping from PRA affected.Lucky, them. Thanks to OptiGen.We are so pleased to know.

They were born last December. Sire is Poolstead Perfect Day and Dam is Poolstead Portraiture. We are so exciting to bring up them.

Now they are 6 month old. You know, how they are...! Naughty...!!:-)
